Literacy Focus: Comprehension Development and
Thinking Critically
Math Focus: Time
I.Q. is the classroom pet who wants to surprise the teacher and students at the Parent Night. Follow I.Q. on a fun school time adventure!
Instead of using my library card to check out a physical copy of this book, I used it to get free access to Tumblebooks. Tumblebooks is a great program that allows you to play an animated version of a picture book on your Smartboard. You can get this book for free to by going to http://www.barth.lib.in.us/ and clicking on the blue Tumblebooks link on the bottom left of the webpage. This link will log you on to Tumblebooks. From there, search "I.Q."
My students were able to listen to the story and make/confirm predictions. I followed the Directed Listening-Thinking Activity format. This book was above the instructional level of some of my students so that is why they were expected to actively listen to it being read out loud.
